It’s really something when you watch your kid transcend your own fears.
Because I was afraid and uncertain and lacked confidence. Not in her and her partner Roo – but in my myself.
And as they succeeded and struggled and found a path through the difficult moments my own demons had to be managed – because this is her journey.
Healing, like this sport, is a wild ride of ups and downs. There’s triumph and heartbreak. Clarity and darkness. Calmness and chaos.
I am pretty sure that she’s one of the bravest people I know. I’m pretty sure this is one of the most psychological sports. It’s like chess, with a helmet but on a horse. And I’m exhausted from the sidelines.
