Working remotely has been a game-changer for me. Balancing a busy life with two kids, it’s given me the autonomy and flexibility I need to make it all work. But let’s be real, remote work has its challenges too. Social isolation and blurred boundaries can take a toll. A recent study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health highlighted higher stress levels among remote workers compared to office-based counterparts.

However, the perks are undeniable – no commuting and being there for my kids after school are priceless. Yet, as great as technology is for staying connected, nothing beats face-to-face interactions. Prioritizing in-person connections is vital for our mental health and well-being.

I’ve found it helpful to be intentional about incorporating in-person human connections into my daily routine, whether it’s hitting the gym or arranging a walk with a friend or colleague. Recognizing when isolation creeps in allows me to plan accordingly, ensuring a healthier work-life balance. Let’s keep nurturing those real-life connections, one interaction at a time.
