More than a few chapters.

In the story that is my life I’ve experienced many chapters. Like many of you, some chapters are pretty awful. I’ve survived:

Childhood traumas
Eating disorder
Parentification
Victimization
Learning disability
Poverty
Relationship violence
Emotional / psychological abuse
Dysfunctional family patterns

Where I’ve been is not where I am today. Those chapters will not define me. Sure, they are a part of me but I’m so much more than a segment of my life.

You don’t need to be defined by an event, an experience or by an action of someone else. What happened to you is not you. You are so much more. You can be so much more.

Get some help. Find some support. Move towards what you want.

Is it hard work? Fu$& yes. But what else do you have to do in your life? Truly? Isn’t healing the most important thing for you and your future? For your kids and community? Isn’t dealing with your sh&$ a future investment for all who know you? Do it for you. Do it as your legacy.

I’ve got many chapters ahead, I hope. And I’ll keep taking the pen. It’s mine to write.
