You’ve heard all about mental health. Well, let’s talk about brain health.
Because brain health = mental health.
Sixty percent of the human brain is made of fat. So make sure you are eating well and fuelling it. And yes, your brain NEEDS carbohydrates too! Go fish oil and omega 3’s. It’s DHA’s for the win.
Water is crucial. About 80% of your brain is made of water and even slight dehydration can effect cognition and raise stress hormone levels.
Exercise improves the flow of oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the brain, which helps it to function at its best. Interestingly, studies show that table tennis has some of the best outcomes for cognitive function and memory not to mention coordination and improvement in Parkinson’s disease. All hand / racket sports seem to reign supreme. But all exercise helps the blood flow to your most vital organ.
Many “mental health” issues are in fact a brain health problem. Consider your options before pharmaceutical interventions. What’s your brain health plan and could some changes in how you treat your brain positively impact your mental health?
And, wear a f&@$ing helmet and seatbelt people. Those are easy wins.
