Dealing with grief

On grief.

I have learned that somethings I will grieve forever.

Loss takes shape in so many forms.
Showing up often as an uninvited guest.

Some pain we never truly get over or past but rather we grow around it, encapsulating it in our soul. We learn to move forward, despite ourselves.

Some grief is laced with guilt and shame, in the choices we have made or failed to make. While other grief is infused with disappointment in another, a situation, a point in time.

Grief is not an emotion assigned only for the death of a once living loved one. It finds us in the loss of a dream, a marriage, a career, an identity. It takes root and holds fast to our shattered selves.

Yet what shatters us and breaks us into pieces can sometimes offer a new beginning, a portal for change, even if that opportunity was not desired.

As Rumi said “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”

I for one have a few places where the light shines brighter now.
