2023
I never really know what to say about the end of anything, including the end of a year.
It all feels cliche doesn’t it? To usher out the old and ring in the new. Yet it seems so right. To have hope for the future. To hold firmly onto the believe that better is yet to come.
And “better” will come. And maybe some “worse”. We never know what is ahead and with some real luck we are leaving the year behind with some skills to help us navigate those waves that will inevitably crest our shores once more.
I’ve seen grief, loss and pain so raw I didn’t know if I truly knew how to hold space for it. I’ve seen relief and joy on the heels of despair. I’ve felt fear, panic and sadness in ways that will be etched forever in me. And I’ve seen a rising and resilience from the ashes so profound it’s left me with eternal optimism.
You may not want 2023 to end. You maybe can’t wait for 12:01 AM. Either way the end and the beginning meet once more on the precipice this last day of the year.
So with that, goodbye and hello.
