Robbed of a moment, a cruel theft of that one second, for one last look, embrace, smile
No over the shoulder “I see you” moment
The earth shifts
This is the wave of emotion; distress, fear, disbelief
When you heart is left, in place but frozen – your body now numb – because the beating heart of your very soul has left you
Time still and passing all the same
Grief embodying your hollow human shell
There is no reprieve; I won’t try to tell you differently
Just one foot in front of the other this day and every dark day that will follow – just like your were taught by the wise soul who has left you
We don’t get over grief, we simply grow around it
